The one that stood out though was individually knotting the beads onto the cord, very popular with Amber teething necklace as this method adds both a strength and security to the piece. If the cord does snap only one or two of the beads are lost, so if you have my habit of breaking a Necklace in the middle of the supermarket (normally by snagging it on the trolley in a magnificent feat of unco-ordination) and watching as the beads bounce and scatter across the next three aisles, then this is definitely the way you want to go.
Traditionally Pearl Necklaces are individually knotted to prevent the pearls from rubbing together - prolonging the life of each pearl, making it perfect for our gemstone Necklaces. Knotting the beads in a contrasting colour adds to the overall look of the piece - another plus.
The only real disadvantage I can find is it is more time-consuming, (and was not as easy as it first looked!) but to be honest its the kind of repetitive action that becomes kinda relaxing after a while :)
So far I have only listed a few in my Madeit store, mostly because the weather is being unkind at the moment...all I need is 20 minutes of sunlight to snap a few pictures! There will be many more to come though so keep an eye out.
